Sightseeing


You can take the coastal train to neighbouring villages or further afield to Exeter, Paignton or Plymouth. You could also hire a boat or take a boat trip which makes for a great afternoon on the water. Within driving distance or by seasonal ferry from Starcross, is the popular seaside resort of Exmouth, with its boat tours, fishing opportunities, the historical Pirate Cove, the multiple breath-taking beaches, and the remarkable marina.

The 3,500-acre Haldon Hills Forest Park is just 10 minutes’ drive away and is criss-crossed with walking and cycling trails for all abilities, perfectly completed by brunch or a luscious slice of cake in the café.

Nearby there is much to occupy the visitor along the English Riviera coastline including Paignton Zoo, both the Dartmouth and South Devon Steam Railways, and the fishing harbour of Brixham.

Day trips to the beaches in the South Hams such as Blackpool Sands and Goodrington Beach also offer a great alternative for a fun day-out and are within an hour’s drive.

Venture to Exeter with its castle and cathedral, Exmouth the gateway to the World Heritage Jurassic Coast and Torquay which offers a selection of continental-style cafés and restaurants.
